Qualification Required: Graduate/Postgraduate in Social Sciences, Rural Development, or Public Health.
Experience Required
- 4-5 years’ experience in managing field teams and SHG federation-level interventions.
- Experience in livelihoods/health programs with multi-stakeholder coordination.
- Strong mentoring, problem-solving, and data monitoring skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively.
Skill and Competencies
- Team leadership and community engagement skills.
- Good communication, and basic reporting skills.
- Two-wheeler riding is a must.
About the Project
Glasses for Livelihoods is an innovative initiative supported by DBS Bank that aims to address presbyopia among rural women by providing access to eyeglasses through community-led mechanisms. Implemented across 15 SHG Federations in Bihar, the project combines free distribution and entrepreneurial models to enhance women’s vision, productivity, and economic participation, while building sustainable, community-owned vision care solutions.
Position Overview
The Project Associate will oversee the implementation of the Glasses for Livelihoods initiative across 3-4 SHG Federations, ensuring effective coordination between Community Engagement Officer federation leadership, and PCI’s project team. The role involves supervising field activities such as community mobilization, organizing vision screening camps, supporting the identification and capacity building of Community Resource Persons (CRPs), and ensuring timely distribution of eyeglasses. The Project Associate will play a critical role in mentoring federation leaders and Community Engagement Officer, troubleshooting operational challenges, and maintaining the quality and efficiency of field processes. In federations piloting the revenue-based model, the Coordinator will facilitate the formation and functioning of Vision Entrepreneurs (VEs) and Associations of Persons (AOPs), supporting their microenterprise activities and business operations. Regular monitoring, data verification, consolidating field reports, and ensuring adherence to project timelines and deliverables will be key responsibilities to drive successful outcomes at the federation level.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and guide Community Engagement Officer across assigned federations for smooth project execution.
- Facilitate coordination between federations, PRIs, Health Workers, and PCI’s project team.
- Mentor federation leadership and VO leaders on mobilization, awareness, and project processes.
- Monitor field activities, consolidate reports from Community Engagement Officer, and ensure data quality.
- Conduct field visits to ensure quality of screening camps and post-distribution follow-ups.
- Support formation and functioning of Vision Entrepreneurs (VEs) and AOPs in federations piloting the revenue-based model.
- Troubleshoot field-level challenges and escalate issues to the Project Manager.
