Position: Education and Life skills Specialist
Reporting Line: Director Gender and Adolescent Girls
Location: New Delhi
Number of Positions: 1
Duration – 12 months (April’23 to March 2024) (Duration may extend depending upon the resource availability)
Position Description:
Education and life skills specialist will strengthen the gender and adolescent empowerment work of PCI. S/he will provide technical and thought leadership to further grow the portfolio of education, inclusive education and girls’ leadership. Core responsibilities will include developing growth and development strategies, innovating new pedagogical approaches, developing curriculum, bringing in new linkages and opportunities to solve complex developmental challenges, aligned to the education domain. S/he will provide technical support to the currently on-going education and girls’ leadership projects.
Key roles and Responsibilities:
• Supervise, guide and lead the technical delivery of the education and life skills related projects of PCI
• Monitor the implementation along the line of outputs and outcomes committed to donors
• Develop knowledge/learning briefs and other products from the current projects
• Undertake secondary research and produce new thought pieces and knowledge
• Develop a new approaches, concept and strategies as part of new business development for education and the larger gender portfolio
• Develop and review background documents, briefs and presentations related to the education, girls’ empowerment and life skills issues
• Support in proposal writing and develop measurement indicators
• Undertake partnership and networking with education and other relevant government departments at national and state levels
• Compilation, analysis and interpretation of education and gender issues alogn with statistical data, thorough research and preparation of top-quality analysis and reports.
• Strengthen partnerships with key national and state based stakeholders, UN agencies, education focused organizations and other civil society organizations, academia, research institutions etc.
• Provide technical inputs to the development of advocacy and communication strategies and activities for maximum communication impact and outreach to promote awareness of the Gender and Education issues.
• Any other activities as assigned by supervisor and the organization
Qualifications and Competencies:
1. Education:
• Master’s degree in Education, psychology, behavioral sciences/economics, gender studies, public policy or a related area.
2. Work Experience:
• At least 10 years of demonstratable experience in designing strategies for education projects, development of curriculum, digital learning, life skills for adolescents or adults and gender issues in India
• Experience of pedagogical work – curriculum development, training, mentoring, measurement
• Experience of working with government at national and/or state levels
• Experience of project management
• Experience of human resource/ team management and donor engagement
3. Skills and competencies:
• Knowledge of policies relevant to education, youth and adolescents, women’s empowerment
• Strong professional network with donors, government departments, and CSOs relevant to education and gender issues
• Very strong analytical and logical skills.
• Strong work planning & project management skills.
• Ability to execute assignments independently and efficient working in a team setting
• Good analytical skill, excellent verbal communication, and presentation
• Demonstrably strong oral and written communication skills
• Excellent English writing skills, and the ability to develop quality documents for an external audience.
• Fluent in English and Hindi language in speaking, reading, and writing
Fluent in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
4. Desirable:
• Technology savvy, and aware of best-in-class practices in creating beautiful learning experiences for a digital audience
• Understanding/experience of working on Child Rights
