About the Position

- Qualification: Diploma, ITI, or equivalent technical qualification in woodworking, bamboo processing, handicrafts, rural technologies, or related fields
- Experience Required:
- Prior experience supporting bamboo-based enterprises, handicraft units, or community production centres.
• Experience working with rural livelihoods, artisan collectives, or producer groups will be preferred

Skills and Attributes:
- Practical knowledge of bamboo processing, product manufacturing, and related machinery.
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot bamboo processing equipment.
• Understanding of quality standards and production workflows.
• Experience working with artisans, producer groups, SHGs, or community enterprises.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and hands-on training skills.
• Sensitivity to local socio-cultural and operational contexts in the Northeast.
About the Project
PCI India is implementing multi-state livelihood programmes across Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, and Sikkim, supporting women and youth from rural and tribal communities to build micro-enterprises in bamboo craft, banana and pineapple fibre textiles, and community-led eco-tourism. The programme provides capacity building, tools and services, exposure, and market linkages to strengthen socio-economic resilience and promote inclusive, climate-resilient growth.
Within the programme, a dedicated bamboo livelihood intervention is being implemented in Tripura to strengthen bamboo-based enterprises through improved production systems, skill enhancement, and market-oriented product development. The intervention aims to establish and strengthen community-based bamboo processing and manufacturing units that produce value-added bamboo products while generating sustainable livelihood opportunities for women and youth.
The programme integrates appropriate technology, quality production processes, artisan skill development, and sustainable resource utilization.
The Role
The Technical Operator will provide hands-on operational and technical support to ensure efficient functioning of bamboo processing and production activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production support
- Assist in bamboo salt and bamboo blinds production processes
- Operate, monitor, and maintain unit equipment and tools
- Ensure proper handling, processing, finishing, and packaging of products
- Support timely completion of daily and monthly production targets.
- Quality assurance
- Maintain product quality standards for bamboo salt and bamboo blinds
- Inspect raw materials and finished products
- Identify defects, reject substandard items, and suggest improvements
- Ensure uniformity, durability, and market-ready finishing
- Technical maintenance
- Carry out routine cleaning and basic maintenance of machines and tools
- Report breakdowns or technical issues promptly
- Coordinate with repair technicians or vendors when required
- Ensure safe use of equipment and workspace
- Raw material management
- Assist in receiving, storing, and managing bamboo and other raw materials
- Monitor material usage and reduce wastage
- Support stock records and inventory checks
- Workplace safety and compliance
- Follow workplace health, safety, and hygiene standards
- Use protective gear and ensure safe operating practices
- Support fire safety, waste management, and clean worksite practices
- Record keeping and reporting
- Maintain basic production logs and material consumption records
- Report daily work progress to the supervisor
- Support documentation for orders, outputs, and defects.

Recruitment Process
- Applications will be shortlisted based on the criteria mentioned in the job description.
- The process may include a presentation of the assignment.
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited for one or more rounds of panel interviews.
The complete process usually takes 2–3 weeks. Candidates moving to the final round will hear from the People & Culture team. In‑person meetings are preferred, but virtual meetings are conducted where distance is a constraint.
