About the Position:
Position Title: Surveillance Coordinator

Reporting: District Sentinel Manager
Location: Bihar (Sitamarhi, saran), Jharkhand ( Khunti , Simdega), Maharashtra (Pune, Sindhudurg)
Grade: B
Type: Regular
Qualification Required: Graduate degree in Public Health, Nursing, Life Sciences, Social Sciences, Rural Development, or related discipline
Experience Required:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in public health programmes, surveillance, field implementation, or community mobilization.
Skills and Attributes:
- Experience working with government health systems or surveillance programmes.
- Preferred local language proficiency
Travel Requirement: Extensive travel within assigned districts and blocks.
The Role
The Surveillance Coordinator will support implementation of Sentinel Community Surveillance activities at district and block level and serve as the operational focal point for community reporting, verification follow-up, escalation tracking, response coordination, and supportive supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Surveillance Operations
- Monitor community-generated surveillance signals and reporting activities.
- Track reporting, verification, escalation, and response timelines.
- Ensure adherence to surveillance protocols and 24-hour verification benchmarks.
- Maintain surveillance records, trackers, and escalation logs.
Field Coordination
- Coordinate with Medical Officers, CHOs, BPHUs, DSUs, Rapid Response Teams, and frontline workers.
- Support verification and response follow-up activities.
- Facilitate communication between community sentinels and health systems.
Community Engagement and Mentoring
- Support enrolment and mentoring of community sentinels.
- Conduct supportive supervision visits and field reviews.
- Reinforce surveillance protocols and reporting practices
Monitoring and Reporting
- Maintain field-level reporting systems and performance trackers.
- Prepare regular implementation reports.
- Support review meetings and data validation activities.
Outbreak Preparedness and Response
- Support outbreak investigations and emergency response activities.
- Participate in simulation exercises and preparedness activities.
- Monitor implementation of response actions at field level.

Recruitment Process
- Applications will be shortlisted based on the criteria mentioned in the job description.
- The process may include a presentation of the assignment.
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited for one or more rounds of panel interviews.
The complete process usually takes 2–3 weeks. Candidates moving to the final round will hear from the People & Culture team. In‑person meetings are preferred, but virtual meetings are conducted where distance is a constraint.
