About the Position:
Position Title: District Sentinel Manager
Number of Position: 6
Reporting: National Program Officer- One Health
Location: Bihar (Sitamarhi, saran), Jharkhand ( Khunti , Simdega), Maharashtra (Pune, Sindhudurg)
Grade: D
Type: Regular
Qualification Required: Master’s degree in public health, Health Management, Rural Development, Social Sciences, or related field.
Experience Required:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in public health programme implementation, health systems strengthening, surveillance, or community development
- Experience working with district administrations and government systems.
Skills and Attributes:
- Experience with IDSP, IHIP, disease surveillance, or outbreak response programmes.
Travel Requirement: Extensive travel within assigned districts and blocks
The Role
The District Sentinel Manager will lead district-level implementation of Sentinel Community Surveillance activities and serve as the primary coordination focal point between district health systems, surveillance units, community institutions, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
District Programme Management
- Lead planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of district activities.
- Develop district workplans and implementation schedules.
- Monitor achievement of project targets and milestones.
Government and Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with District Surveillance Units, Block Public Health Units, Medical Officers, District Administrations, SRLM teams, NSS units, and Urban Local Bodies.
- Facilitate district consultations, review meetings, and convergence platforms.
Community Sentinel Systems Strengthening
- Support enrolment, orientation, mentoring, and retention of community sentinels.
- Strengthen reporting, verification, escalation, and feedback mechanisms.
- Facilitate implementation of surveillance protocols and SOPs.
Capacity Building and Supervision
- Coordinate trainings, mentoring visits, and supportive supervision activities.
- Supervise Surveillance Coordinators and review field performance.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Monitor district surveillance indicators and dashboard performance.
- Prepare monthly district reports and implementation updates.
- Document implementation challenges, lessons learned, and corrective actions.
Outbreak Preparedness and Response
- Support outbreak preparedness activities, simulation exercises, and rapid response mechanisms.
- Coordinate with surveillance teams during investigations and response activities.

Recruitment Process
- Applications will be shortlisted based on the criteria mentioned in the job description.
- The process may include a presentation of the assignment.
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited for one or more rounds of panel interviews.
The complete process usually takes 2–3 weeks. Candidates moving to the final round will hear from the People & Culture team. In‑person meetings are preferred, but virtual meetings are conducted where distance is a constraint.
