About the Project:
This Gates Foundation supported project – Transitioning FNHW integration with SHG platform in UP and National level encompasses providing Technical Assistance on Food Nutrition, Health and WASH and transitioning of these interventions layered on community platforms keeping sustainability in mind.
Better health and nutrition amongst the SHG households has the potential to significantly impact Women’s Economic Empowerment as well. By transitioning and sustaining HN interventions the project not only promotes better health but also supports economic stability for women. Improved health and reduced out-of-pocket expenditures (OOP) can support women in making better economic and employment-related decisions, thereby enhancing their financial stability and independence. Healthier women are more likely to participate in economic activities and reduced out-of-pocket health expenses allow for more financial resources to be allocated towards income-generating opportunities.
This second phase of the project delves into providing Technical Assistance to DAY NRLMs Food, Nutrition, Health and WASH (FNHW) vertical on selected technical themes, building capacities, develop demonstration and learning sites in the states , provide MLE support for integrating FNHW data at the state and national level systems, facilitate and forge convergence between departments and ministries to ensure services and entitlements related to FNHW. Another aspect of this project is to transition the Health and Nutrition TA to established government institutions for ensuring sustainability.
The Position
The Intersectoral Convergence Expert will be based at DAY-NRLM, lead the overall partnership portfolio and be responsible for facilitating convergence and partnerships with relevant institutes and ministries, such as the Health, WCD, Education and Tribal Affairs. This position will also facilitate smooth transitioning of the technical assistance on Health and Nutrition to the identified government institutes.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead Convergence efforts with relevant Ministries:
- Identify opportunities for convergence with Ministries such as Health, WCD, Education and Tribal Affairs and lead the process.
- Facilitate mechanisms for partnerships and common ways of working in the states for common purposes.
- Lead Strategic Partnerships and Institutionalization:
- Facilitate capture lessons and address challenges in institutionalizing Health and Nutrition (HN) within the SHG ecosystem and enable DAY-NRLM to engage with identified premier institutions (e.g., AIIMS, NHSRC, IIPH) and support their institutionalization as long-term technical and knowledge partners for HN.
- Support the co-development of frameworks for joint review, technical assistance transition, and sustainability planning.
- Lead and Operationalize National-State Coordination:
- Act as a key liaison between NRLM, SRLMs, and partner institutions to ensure smooth transition and ownership of technical assistance on HN.
- Manage and mentor State Partnership Officers and ensure systematic flow of learning from SRLMs to DAY-NRLM.
- Strengthen Convergence and Policy Alignment:
- Lead development and implementation of convergence advisories, joint communication packages, and campaign strategies (e.g., Poshan Maah, Swachhata Pakhwada).
- Align SHG-led HN actions with national and state flagship programs through policy-oriented engagement.
- Technical and Strategic Support:
- Work closely with DAY-NRLM leadership to understand NRLM structures and state-specific HN contexts for crafting SHG-based solutions and provide strategic inputs to advance an integrated, holistic approach to health and nutrition across the platform.
- Ensure seamless knowledge flow within the PCI team to support reporting, planning, and adaptive program management and contribute to the organizational learning processes.
- Dissemination, Engagement and Representation:
- Coordinate and contribute to documentation of convergence innovations, human-interest stories, and field-level practices that highlight impact and scalability.
- Represent the project in NRLM/SRLM meetings, national and state-level workshops, and inter-ministerial consultations to share updates and influence program design.
- Attend and contribute to relevant events and forums for wider visibility and stakeholder engagement.
Experience Required:
- The candidate must have a master’s degree in
- At least 6-8 years of experience in providing programmatic or technical assistance to large scale health or nutrition related programs, with at least 2 years at National level or State level. Experience of working at national level will be of advantage.
- Substantial experience of working in the development sector as a part of community/social mobilization programming in rural areas in India.
- Good knowledge of the community structures of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM)/ State Rural Livelihood Missions (SRLMs).
- Significant experience of working with the Government (specifically, with senior bureaucracy) at the state as well as national level.
Skill and Competencies:
- Demonstrated technical and project management skills, with ability to adapt to various situations and deal with different stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Fluency in English (along with strong writing ability) is essential.
- Demonstrated learning agility, pro-activeness, and openness to embrace new technologies at work Willingness to travel as per the requirement of the project.
- Ability to collaborate across teams and foster a culture of learning and knowledge-sharing.

Recruitment Process:
